Our trading card game cousins-once-removed, Yu-Gi-Oh, recently added a rules update that codifies what a “rules shark” is and that attempting to “shark the rules” is punishable under Unsporting Behavior. Quote: “Official Policy documents may not serve as a resource for persons to attempt to take advantage of one another through rule sharking, or otherwise attempting to influence the decisions of judges or tournament officials. Rule sharking is defined as using rules and policy in an attempt to gain an advantage instead of to ensure fair and consistent gameplay.” This is on the heels of their recent other rules update hygiene policy was put in place. This is, of course, amazing work from the Rules Committee for Yu-Gi-Oh, and it got me thinking: what rules updates are you hoping for in the future?

The 1980s cartoon Dungeons & Dragons may be gone, but it is a pop-culture icon in Brazil, where the series remains incredibly popular. So much so that the French car manufacturer Renault (pronounced “WREN-OH”) made a Hollywood-production-level live-action commercial that brought the cartoon characters to life. The nearly two-minute-long commercial is complete with explosions, a magical bow shooting glowing arrows of energy, and, of course, dragons. And it wouldn’t be complete without the copyright, officially given permission by Wizards of the Coast… which opens the door to a future Magic crossover. PC Gamer’s James Davenport wrote an article this week called "I Beat Sekiro's Final Boss With Cheats and I Feel Fine" in regards to using a mod to beat a video game. But that’s not the story here, folks; no, the story here is one particularly salty response on Twitter to the article that quickly became a viral sensation: “You cheated not only the game, but yourself. You didn't grow. You didn't improve. You took a shortcut and gained nothing. You experienced a hollow victory. Nothing was risked and nothing was gained. It's sad that you don't know the difference.” This amazing new block text immediately took off, spawning references on all subjects from speedrunning to easy mode to lifehacks and more. But it has yet to branch into Magic… until now. So let’s hop on the viral bandwagon, and tell me: what kind of shortcuts would send you into a similar tweet tizzy?
