New format for WAR Magic Weekend
War of the Spark – Magic Weekend will include a special one-off format, with rules curated by the M:TG design studio. Specifics will be released closer to card preview time. Stores that sign up to host this event will receive a large event kit. It will include a poster tryptic, a set of 60 stickers inspired by War of the Spark’s characters, two sets of promo cards (one alternate art, one full art) in quantities determined by the store’s level, and a playmat.

Among the news that fell through the cracks this week is that the official hashtag for Mythic Championship Cleveland, #2019MC1, which was already ungainly, turns out shares its tag with the latest “semi-automatic polymer striker fired pistol” by the gun manufacturer Mossberg called the MC1SC. Now, Magic has run into the hashtag buzz saw before, most notably with the Montana Republican Party and the hashtag MTGOP, and later the cryptocurrency exchange “Mount Gox.” But surely 2019MC1 won’t be the last time this happens. So what other unfortunate hashtag mix-em-ups do you foresee coming down the pike?
