First Pick & Giveaway
Giveaway: Booster box of Rivals of Ixalan! - https://gleam.io/n4HJ2/win-a-booster-box-of-rivals-of-ixalan
First Pick - Standard Bannings: https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/news/january-15-2018-banned-and-restricted-announcement-2018-01-15
A pack of Kaladesh can now contain up to three banned cards: Attune with Aether, Smuggler’s Copter, and Aetherworks Marvel. The Kaladesh Nissa Planeswalker Deck is also no longer tournament legal.
There have been 9 cards banned in standard in just over 12 months.
For comparison, Urza standard, the most broken format of all time, only had 10. Affinity had 10 as well?

2 Types of currency: Gold and Gems
Gold - In-Game Earnable Currency
Gems - Need them sweet dollars
Gems-only content will be cosmetic only. No content that can’t be obtained from playing long enough.
Six ways to get cards: Boosters, ‘Keeper’ Drafts, Match Wins, Weekly Win Bonuses, Wildcards, and the Vault
Wildcards will appear in place of a common, unc, or rare/mythic; they can be any card of that rarity you want them to be. The longer it has been since you opened one, the higher chance you have of doing so.
The Vault will increase when you open a 5th copy of something or open a booster. It will reward Wildcards, items, and tokens.
Same distribution as real Magic packs.
No new Modern format when Standard rotates. (YEAH, RIGHT.) But they are expecting to create events which will use those cards.

The Finisher
This week, we have a true marquee matchup in the Magic Bracket. More than 12 million votes have been cast since we first talked about the Magic Bracket on Magic Mics about a year ago, a single elimination popularity contest between every single Magic card printed before 2016. And finally in Batch 38 of Round 4,096, we really have a top flight fight: the famed Otarian barbarian Kamahl is facing off with his favored enemy: Pits. That’s right, Kamahl, Pit Fighter finally gets a Pit to Fight in Creeping Tar Pit! It’s perfectly poetic, and it got me thinking: when we finally get to post-2016 cards, what other thematic matchups would you like to see played out in the gladiatorial arena of the Magic Bracket?
